What Does This Pap Smear Test Result Indicate?

Negative for intraepithelial lesion or malignancy. Atrophic pattern; predominantly parabasal cells Comment: Parabasal cells in smears that lack maturation due to atrophy or other hormonal reasons cannot be differentiated from transformation zone cells. Accordingly, presence or absence of endocervical or transformation zone components cannot be reported in this patient. What does this mean?

This test is inconclusive, however, chances for cancer is low.

Consult a gynecologist and plan for a punch biopsy for confirmation.
