Hello: I ve been told that my endometrium is mildly thickened at 6 mm with a small 2.1 cm echogenic focus. Although its ap»earance is consistent with adenomyosis they say my age and interval development since last year or would make adenomyosis less likely. They recommend sampling of the endometrium and adjacent area. Could you tell me how that would be done? thanks Gianna
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. A 6 mmendometrial thickness is considered increased for a post menopausal woman. Endometrial sampling is advisable in this case. Endometrial sampling can be done by various methods like dilatation and curettage, endometrial aspiration by pipelle or Novak aspirator, or hysteroscopic guided endometrial biopsy. Your OBGYN specialist will best decide the method for you. Hope you found the answer helpful. Wishing you good health. Dr Deepti Verma
