my one year old daughter was born with a 3cm dilated kidney there have been no changes she just had her last ultrasound . on the 26.8.11, they told me that her LT kidney appeors to be duplex with the LP collecting system is mildly dilated 3mm vol = 74 can you please tell me what this means. thank you
Hi,
Duplex kidney means two poles of a kidney developed seperatly and remain seperated but attached to same ureter, and pelvi calyceal system may be seperate.
this may not cause a problem but if this is associated with obstruction require treatment. your child is havind duplex kidney associated obstruction in collecting system which requires treatment.
Take care
