What Does The Following CT Scan Indicate?

Impression: CT Scan Reveals increase in size of Colloid Cyst with dilatation of lateral ventricles.



-hyperdense lesion measuring 1.6 x 1.3 x 1.0cm

-Lateral Ventricles are dilated with VS index of 40%. No periventricular oedema is seen

-midline is maintained.

-body of lateral ventricles in parietal region are 22 to 23 mins.

-Brain parenchyma has normal CT attenuation.

-Cerrebella lobes and 4th ventricle is normal

-visualized orbits and PNS appear normal



Please advice:

1. How serious is the case?

2. with surgical treatment, will it cause any memory loss?

any otherhelp please advice.

Welcome to health care magic.

1.The report suggest there is a cystic area with in the brain parenchyma side not mentioned.
2.The lesion seen causing mass effect on the lateral ventricle / ventricular dilatation.
3.In this case it needs further evaluation with the contrast study with MRI.
4.MRI with contrast will give most narrow diagnosis - weather any mass lesion, cystic area , infective aetiology.
5.Rest of the brain and paranasal sinuses according to the study appears normal.
