What Does The MRI Report Suggest?

met with a bike accident on 28/12/2013. I was advised an MRI since the X ray did not reveal any fracture.

The below are the impression from the MRI scan

Bucket - handle tear of the media meniscus
Bone contusions in the inferior patella, distal femur and proximal tibia
Intrasubstance injury with grade 3 anterior cruciate ligament tear
Grade 2 tear seen in the posterior horn of the lateral meniscus
Medial collateral ligamnet strain
Moderate joint effusion
Oedeam in the periarticular muscles and soft tissues

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

You may not be having an obvious fracture on X ray but there is significant soft tissue injury which is confirmed by MRI. Bone contusions are mild traumatic bone injuries. Meniscal tear and anterior cruciate ligament tears need a surgical opinion. There is also accumulation of fluid around your knee joint.
