What Does Spot On Upper Left Lung Mean?

Last Wednesday, a routine chest x-ray revealed what looked to be a 2 cm spot on upper left lung. I am a 40 year old female, non smoker who is asymptomatic. Had CT with contrast on Friday and it basically said the the image was nonspecific but i measured out to be 2.8 cm x 2 cm x 1.8 cm with opacity. It also said the lesion could be inflammation/infection but because I was asymptomatic, malignancy could not be excluded. What is the likelihood this is an infection or inflammation if I have no symptoms of chest cold, etc. Everyone in my home does have bronchitis right now though

No a simple bronchitis cannot cause such a big lesion. However as the size is 2.8 cm, It is very likely that it can be a cancer also. Get a biopsy done at the earliest and a PET CT scan if it turns out to be malignant.
Secondly if it was an infection or inflammation, it would cause you some symptoms.
