What Does Spinal Canal Narrowing In The MRI Report Suggest?

My MRI report says..diffused posterior bulge of l4-5 intervertebral disc is seen causing compression of thecal sac and lateral reccesses ( right> left). Central posterior herniation of nucleus pulposis of L/S junction intervertebral disc is appreciated causing compression of the cal sac, lateral reccesses and exiting merging roots. Ligamenta flava are also hypertrophied. Significant spinal canal narrowing is observed at this level. There is more text too... Can you explain this in layman terms to me that I have two or one disc herniation? And is it inheritory or what? Are my both discs ruptured and pressing on nerves?

Welcome to Health care magic.

1.There is a disc in between the vertebrae, which helps as shock-absorber and supports in weight bearing. The disc contains good amount of fluid %, The disk looses the hydration in degenerative changes.
2.Due to disc disease there is a slippage / herniation of the disc posteriorly.
3.Causing chord compression at multiple levels, and nerve compression seen al lower lumbar level.
4.As inflammatory changes ligamentum flavum hyper trophy noted.
5.Its not genetic / inheritor , its just degenerative changes.
6.Treatment in this case with simple back exercise followed by physiotherapy - final stage if not relived - operative / intervention are done.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
