What Does "flair Signal Intensity Scattered Within Subcortical White Matter" Mean?

I have suffered from migraines since the age of 10. controlled mostly with imitrex pills and injections. but this year has been extremely worse. and in te last 3 weeks I have had 8 syncope episodes. most lasting just a few minutes as far as I can tell. had an mri last week showing multiple areas of focal increased T2 and FLAIR signal intensity scattered within subcortical white matter of both frontal and parietal lobes. I need some advise as to what direction to go in. getting an appt with a nuerologist takes weeks and Im in no position to be hospitalized to speed things up. any advise...

Thanks for writing in.

There are small areas in your brain which appear white MRI T2 and FLAIR sequences. While most are in the frontal and parietal lobes. This area is showing a pattern that might be consistent with decreased blood supply or loss of myelination. It is very small in size at present and needs to be matched with the neurological clinical examination findings. If there is persisting symptoms for more than a few days and increasing progressively for months then a repeat MRI scan is necessary after 6 months to a year.
