Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your symptoms seem to be due to nerve impingement due cervical
vertebral disc degeneration or bulging.in other words you are most probably suffering from
spondylosis of
cervical spine.instead of suffering a lot, just go for an MRI of cervical and dorsal spine.we can also rule out any tumors of cervical spine.the following is the plan of treatment which i recommend to my patients who visit me :
1)for pain relief,NSAIDs like
ibuprofen,
aceclofenac can be used twice daily for 5 days.caution : the above mentioned drugs are to be avoided in cases of
renal failure,gastric ulcer,age >65yrs.
2)avoidance of lifting heavy weights,driving bike,long journey.
3)soft neck/
cervical collar assists your neck muscles.so,except while sleeping, you can have a collar.
4)postural modification is the most important step.do not sit without a back support.do not flex or extend your neck excessively.
5)physiotherapist can make you learn few neck muscles strengthening exercises that would really help in preventing recurrent episodes of pain and giddiness.please do not neglect and practise them daily at home.
6)last but not the least is calcium and vit B6 and B12 supplementation is necessary.
please try the above treatment for 2 weeks.most of my patients got relieved from the above one.if you don't improve, i shall let you know about other treatment options like facet joint steroid injection(not regularly practiced for neck region),surgical nerve decompression.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
