Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Im a 30 year old female. A couple nights this month I've had pain just below my breast bone on the left side that lasts hours. It's a burning achy pain that only happens late at night that mostly hurts in my back. It gives me chills but no fever and light nausea. I also want to note that my mom had gallstones and had her gall bladder removed when she was about 35. My sister was just diagnosed with interstitial cystitis. I'm wondering if it could be gallbladder, ulcer, pancreatitis, or something else less invasive. Thank you!
If gall stones are the cause then the pain would more likely be at your right side and will aggravate when you are deep breathing. You more likely have acid dyspepsia that happens if acid from your stomach refluxes into your eesophagus. Have tab Pantop 40 mg once a day for a week and see if it improves. Do not lie down immediately after having food and avoid spicy, oily food.
If after a week there is no improvement you may want to get an ultrasound whole abdomen done. It is non invasive and done using a device over you skin. That will help us rule out any other conditions like gall bladder anomalies or pancreas defects.
Hope this helps, Please feel free to get back to me with any further questions,
