What Does Only Three Chambers Developed In The Ultrasound Indicate?

My daughter just went in for an ultra sound and they stated it looks as though only three chambers have developed, they are sending her to a specialist and another ultra-sound. How serious is this? I realize that it's serious but does this mean the baby may not survive?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
You have not posted the complete query.
However, I assume that an ultrasound of gravid uterus has been done and it reveals presence of three chambered heart in the developing baby.
Presence of three chambers instead of four chambers is a congenital anomaly.
There are different types of congenital anomalies.
What effects the anomaly will have on the baby. its severity and complications will depend on the type of anomaly.
However, all anomalies are not dangerous, do not have any danger to life and can be surgically corrected.
You need to consult your doctor to assess the type of anomaly.

Thanks and take care
