What Does Nausea Along With Abdominal Pain And Vomiting Indicate?
My daughter has had serious nausea, abdominal pain vomiting for 2-3 days every month about one week before her period begins. The symptoms have worsened over the last 5 year or o. She was. once diagnosed with endometriosis although she recently had her appendix out ( it was healthy and an unecessary surgery) and the doctor looked around when he was in there and did not see any The attacks are debilitating. She is under the care of a GI and an immunologist. So far no one seems to be able to help. Any ideas?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Your daughter seems to have excessive sensitivity to hormone progesterone when it reaches its peak activity during menstrual cycle. She should be taken to endocrinologist to get specific hormonal treatment to combat this regular activity after hormonal estimations. Use of proton pump inhibitors like Ranitidine at the stage would help till then. Please consult the expert.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions. Regards, Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
