What Does My Stress Test Report Indicate?

I just had a stress test (non-treadmill) done at a local hospital in the Denver, CO area this afternoon and it came back abnormal. The staff said it was t anything I needed to be admitted for immediately, but that I need to make an appt. with a cardiologist within a few days. The doctor at the hospital also prescribed a beta blocker for me to start taking. What will the beta blocker do, is it really necessary, and what are it s side effects? I know there are a lot of pros and cons about beta blockers.

Hi,

Beta blockers work by blocking the effects of the hormone epinephrine. When you take beta blockers, your heart beats more slowly and with less force, thereby reducing blood pressure. It decreases the heart’s demand for oxygen.

Common side effects of beta blockers include: Dizziness, Weakness or fatigue, Dry mouth, Headache, Diarrhea or constipation. Kindly take the medication as prescribed and do the necessary follow-up with your doctor as advised.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
