What Does My Fecalysis Regarding Diarrhea Indicate?

Hi! I started having diarrhea that started Monday night until Tuesday afternoon almost every 1-2 hours. The gap changed on Wednesday afternoon (yesterday) and it is only when I have eaten (even just a cup of soup and a piece of bread)that my stomach starts to act up again. I started drinking Gatorade since I started having diarrhea. Yesterday, a doc gave me Erceflora that i have to mix with tea 3x a day and should stop taking it as soon as my diarrhea stops. I was able to take 1 last night and another this lunch. I just got my fecalysis this evening and it showed: 1-3/hpf pus cells; more than 50/hpf RBC; plenty of bacteria; but no ova or parasites. What do this all indicate?

Hi,

You may be suffering from acute bacillary dysentery. It may be caused by salmonella or shigella or enterococcus etc.

Avoid spicy food, alcohol consumption, smoking and caffeine drinks.

Use tablet Ofloxacin + Ornidazole.

If symptoms not improved please get stool culture and microscopy examination.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu,
