General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
There are two different kinds of inflammatory bowel disease. One is Crohn's disease and the other is Ulcerative colitis. In addition, any type of infection or immune response can cause inflammation in the bowel. Hopefully they did biopsies and the results of the biopsies could give you a more clear diagnosis. Inflammation is not specific and can result from many causes
