What Does Low Hemoglobin Level Along With Dizziness And Headaches Indicate?

My blood counts have dropped from normal to a hemoglobin of 6.6 and hematocrit of 22.2 in 2 months. I ve lost about 5 - 7 pounds (I m not overweight) in the last 3 weeks. I m dizzy and short of breath, pounding headaches, but no signs of bleeding. I ve even had stomach ulcers before and I don t have any of those symptoms.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Low hemoglobin itself causes headache, giddiness and weakness. It may be due to decreased oxygen carrying capacity to the brain and peripheral tissues lead to head ache and weakness. Dear you may also check for migraines causes of headache. You may need blood transfusion followed by iron tablets to be consumed for 1-2 months. Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
