I recently had a vaginal hysterectomy and start having pain and a discharge almost 2 months later. A CT was done and I was informed that I still had my ovaries and there are lesions on both of them-1.8 cm on one and 1.5 cm on the other. What does a lesion mean?
Hi there, Having pain and discharge 2 months after a hysterectomy could means that probably the vaginal stitches taken during hysterectomy may not have healed as expected. The discharge should be examined by a Gynaecologist and sent for culture and sensitivity. It could mean a collection of pus, or a collection of old blood clots from the surgery. Have you had any fever as well? Regarding the lesions on ovary, were they described as cysts or swellings and was an ultrasound done prior to the CT. This is so blood flow to the ovaries can be ascertained through a ultrasound Doppler. Small cysts usually resolve on their own . If the cyst increase in size it could be a concern , but if you repeat an ultrasound 6 months later and it shows decrease in cysts size then their is no worry. Hope this helps. Regards.
