Hi,

The pelvicalyceal system is a part of the kidney that includes the renal pelvis and the calyces, which are the cup-shaped structures that collect urine from the kidney and transport it to the ureter. When the pelvicalyceal system is described as "prominent," it means that it appears larger or more dilated than normal on imaging studies such as an ultrasound or CT scan.

This can be a sign of various conditions affecting the kidney, including kidney stones, infections, or obstruction of the urinary tract. In your case, it seems that there is no calculus (stone) in the kidney or ureter, but the pelvicalyceal system is still prominent. It is best to discuss the significance of this finding with your doctor, who can provide further evaluation and management if necessary.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
