What Does It Mean By The Ectasia Of The Renal Pelves Bilaterally?

hello, i am 25, i am currently 34 weeks pregnant, at 24 weeks in an ultrasound my dr found that his kindneys - ectasia of the renal pelves bilaterally without an abnormality of amniotic fluid index. can you please give me some information on that. i just had my 34 week ultrasound but it was done by the an ultrasound tech and she could not give me any information on it. i am stressing having to wait till my next check up to get results. thanks!!!

Hi dear and thanks for your query.
Fetal pyelectasis (FP) refers to a prominence/dilatation of the renal pelvis in utero.
Fetal pyelectasis can be a relatively common finding in an antenetal ultrasound scan, often detected at the routine 2nd trimester morphology scan.
There is a recognised male predilection.
While amniotic fluid is normal and there is no another issue don't worry so much .
Be calm and wait until the next examination.
