What Does Icteric Blood Sample Mean In Blood Test Result?
I am 27, weight approx 85kg. I dont have any previous medical problems. I donated a blood sample a few weeks ago to the NHS blood donor clinic. I do this every 3/4 months and have done for the last 5 /6years or so. Recently the NHS sent me a letter saying they analysed my latest sample and found that on separation it had a slightly more yellowy appearance than normal. They also gave me a sealed letter to give to my doctor. I have visited the doctor and taken a blood test and I noticed that as the doctor opened the letter the letter mentioned that my blood sample was icteric. What does this mean? Can I be cured? I am really worried. I googled 'icteric blood sample' and it mentioned Jaundice. I get my result next week from the doctor but I just can't stop worrying because Ifeel like I am in the dark.

I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern. but don't worry much dear. You have icteric sample. So mostly its jaundice. but its not a big deal. jaundice is very common. Just go for further investigation and complete liver function test. you may have some disease in liver. Take treatment accordingly. it will be cured. you will be completely ok. so just be relaxed. hope i have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer.
