I am 59, overweight, but otherwise in good health. I have not had a period in about 9 years, but some recent bleeding led my doctor to order an ultrasound test. This has shown that my ovaries are normal and the size of the uterus is normal too, but the endometrial lining is 1.6. How much above normal is this? Is it normally cancerous to be this thick? Do I need to be concerned? thank you.
Your combined endometrial thickness is increased. You need biopsy of endometrium so that exact cause can be known and can be treated accordingly. Thickening may be due to many reasons like simple hyperplasia, cancerous changes etc. It is important to correlate clinically. Get well soon. Hope i have answered your query.
