What Does Brownish Vaginal Bleeding While On Birth Control Pills Indicate?

I am on oral birth control. Last month I skipped my period and this month I got it and it was normal then turned to brown blood. Which is just old blood. But I got my period two Fridays ago and it s been brown for about a week. The last couple days it has changed to light brown. Does that mean it s going away and is still old blood

Hello,
Thanks for letting us know your health concern. When hormone contraception is initiated, there is a disruption of the natural hormone milieu. This leads to irregular menstruation which settles down in a couple of months as the body adjusts itself to the new status. You seem to be experiencing the same and the brown discharge is the old blood and sometimes due to breakthrough bleeding. Please get proper help from your health care provider if there is no relief. Hope this helps.
