What Does Abnormal RBC And Epithelial Cells With Bacteria In Urinalysis Mean?

Hi I recently (3-4 days ago) recovered from a stomach flu. Today I noticed what I thought was blood in my urine. Urgent Care did a urinalysis and everything came back normal. The bleeding was actual vaginal and the doctor s thought was that it was caused by a hormonal build up from birth control pills and said it would clear up in 1-2 days. I just got the results back from the wet prep he did and it is showing RBC abnormal 6-10, Bacteria abnormal 1+ value and epithelial cells abnormal few. I m really confused about the results and what they mean. I had a completely normal routine pap 1 month ago and everything was fine. Is this just an infection?

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

You are suffering from urinary tract infection(UTI).
UTI is indicated by presence of RBC,few bacteria in urine.RBC in urine may be due to UTI
You need few more investigations like routine hemogram,Renal function test,Urine culture and sensitivity and Ultrasound of abdomen. Further investigations can be done if needed..
At present you need proper antibiotics after culture and sensitivity report.
You also need clinical correlation. You should drink plenty of water.

Hope i have answered your query.
Get well soon.

Take Care
