Me and my wife want to try for 2nd baby each and every report is negative except MANTOUX test .we want your opinion can we take TB medicine further, past history was same as today my first baby was conceive after taking TB medicine confirmation of positive MANTOUX test.. Please advise us what to do...

Hello,

Positive Mantoux test needs support from evidence of positive MTb PCR test. Then, only she should start on anti-tuberculosis.

In my opinion, please get her 24 hours urinary AFB test and MTb PCR test done. If test is positive, then please seek physician help to start the complete treatment schedule or she can take the treatment prophylactically for 6 months.

Also, start on Folic acid and vitamin B 12 supplements regularly. This helps to prevent various complications during conception, pregnancy and childbirth.
