What Does A Lump In The Throat Indicate?

I've felt like something is stuck in my throat for several weeks. I have to clear my throat a lot and have started sounding horse / scratchy voice. I can feel a bump or knot on the right side to the right side of the flap that covers my wind pipe. Is this common?
