Suggest Treatment For Painful Red Lump Behind The Vulva And Sore Throat

I noticed a red lump behind my uvula. It s been in my throat for about four days. It s really getting on my nerves. No trouble breathing nor swallowing (although I get slight fears of eating due to this lump feeling), but I m wondering if the lump will go away. I have slight sore throat symptoms (mainly some mucus that comes and goes in my throat and slight cough).

Hi,

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns. As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from Bacterial throat infection also known as Strep throat and the symptoms of throat pain along with a lump behind the uvula that can be due to causes like Pyogenic granuloma, Abscess etc. secondary to infection.

For confirmation consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Thorat swab culture can help in diagnosis. You can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen, doing warm saline gargles, steam inhalation and using a humidifier in your room can help.

You can also suck throat lozenges, chew Vitamin C pellet and avoid spicy and chilled foods. As of now gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine and take Ibuprofen to relieve pain.
