General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Sore throat is mostly cause by infection from viruses and bacteria even though allergies, sinus infections, reflux and tumors can also contribute.Mostly caused by viral infections but long duration of symptoms and recurrence will need further investigation.A throat swap test/culture will be helpful here.In the meantime, the following home remedies will help: Increase liquid intake, Warm tea with honey, Use a steamer or humidifier in your bedroom, Gargle with warm salt water several times daily,Take over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen.
You will need to see a Doctor given the recurrence of your symptoms to examine your throat and judge the need for antibiotics.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
