What Does A Right Lobe Linear Fibrosis Indicates On X-ray?
My Husband had a Right Lobe linear fibrosis on his x-ray though he had never been sick before of any lung disease the doctor suggest Quadtab medicine..can you please tell me what this is for? i heard it for pulmonary tuberculosis, so we are thinking he might have been given the wrong medication..thanks
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic. I can understand your concern. Yes, you are right. Quadtab is having four drugs combination for tuberculosis. In my opinion, he should not start this drugs only on the basis of x ray. Any previous lung insult like infection or injury, heals by fibrosis. So fibrosis on chest x ray does not suggest active tuberculosis. Better to first get done sputum examination for AFB (acid fast bacilli-bacteria causing tuberculosis), CT thorax and Bronchoscopy, BAL (bronchoalveolar lavage) analysis. If all these are normal then no need to worry and no need to start Quadtab So better to first confirm whether he is having tuberculosis or not and then start treatment. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your husband. Thanks.
