What Do You Suggest For Prolonged Periods?

i am pooja
i always have abnormal periods problem.4 months back i consulted with my doctor and she ran some tests and ultrasound but it was normal. no PCOS problem encountered me except testosterone level which is high enough.thn i started doing workout to reduced my testosterone level and reduced 12 kg in 4 months .i had my periods 2 times without taking pills after thn.but now i have prolonged periods over more than 4 weeks.what do i need to do??

Hi Pooja,

Thanks for the query.

I understand that you are having problems of high testosterone.
It is good that you have lost a lot of weight as this helps. However excess weight loss is also a stresser and stress aggravates the problem.

So do not be in stress, you only have one hormonal abnormality. I suggest that you try tablet cerazette is a good option. Other drug is spironolactone. You can use these after discussing with your gynecologist. Remember that these drugs act for a short while only. Some women are cured after 6 months of therapy while in others the problem persists. Pregnancy usually cures issues in most cases.

For the time being, I suggest that you take tablet medroxyprogesterone for three days. The period will come after stopping the tablet in the next 7 days. You can then begin cerazette from day 3 of your menses.

Try the above treatment for 6 months. Future management will then be decided according to the response.
