What Do The White Blood Cells In Eye Indicate?

Hi, I saw an optometrist today for light sensitivity, mild redness, and pain in my left eye. He said he saw a few white blood cells and dryness. His diagnosis was keratitis, but said to only take the drops he prescribed (Tobradex) if I don t feel better in a couple days. I ve had these symptoms for a while and tried other bacterial drops that haven t worked in the past. Could the white blood cells seen today be an indication that my body is fighting something off and I don t need to try these eye drops?

Keratitis means cornea inflammation, it may be viral, bacterial, injury etc.
Our body fights inflammation through these white cells, but as long as you have these pain and itching, means that body defense only is not enough.
You should continue the drug your doctor gave to you. Also don't touch your eyes with hands and have a good hygiene too.
