What Do The Following Liver Function Test Results Suggest?

I underwent a blood test in sept 16. S Bilirubin (Total): 1.9 mg/dl S Bilirubin (Direct): 0.78 mg/dl S Bilirubin (Indirect): 1.12 mg/dl S.G.P.T 21 U/L S.G.O.T 55 U/L S. Globumin: 1.7 g/dl Total Cholestrol: 212 Doctor suggested some medicines. After one month test S Bilirubin (Total): 2.39 mg/dl S Bilirubin (Direct): 0.64 mg/dl S Bilirubin (Indirect): 1.75 mg/dl S.G.P.T 19 U/L S.G.O.T 34 U/L S. Globumin: 1.8 g/dl Total Cholestrol: 201 S.G.O.T is normal now..but bilirubin is still high What is the reason?

Hi,

Among the liver function tests you have done only Bilirubin is higher then the normal range. It is the form that is not conjugated (not metabolized) that is higher then normal values. This can be caused by different reasons from bleeding to Giilbert syndrome (which is a normal variant with a little reduction of the liver enzymes but needs no treatment).

Your doctor needs to do further tests to try to find out the cause of the high indirect Bilirubin levels from blood tests to urinalysis.
