What Do Strep Throat And Veins On Tonsils Indicate?

I ve had strep throat twice this month and a week after being better my tonsils swollen up again with my glands very swollen and painful I can barely talk. And I noticed it looks like I now have dark purple veins on my tonsils and back of throat. What does this mean? Do I have to get my tonsils removed?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have a severe and recurring throat infection leading to inflammation in throat and the dark purple veins are secondary to inflammation..
Swollen tonsils and glands are also due to it..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Throat swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin or Augmentin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Do warm saline gargles atleast 3 to 4 times a day..
Suck throat lozenges and chew a Vitamin C pellet daily..
Avoid spicy and chilled food to prevent further irritation..
Sip in plenty of warm water throughout the day..
In case if there is still the persistence of symptoms as well as there are recurrences Tonsillectomy can be advised..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
