What Do Red, Dry Patches On Face With Soreness Mean?

I am a 76 year old Female and over the last month have been having skin problems on my face and sometimes neck. There are dry patches around my eyes and around my mouth and also my ear lobes that are red and sore. I have been using deep creamy moisterizing Vaseline along with 1% Hydrocortisone +12 Moisturizers, which seems to help for a time and then the dry patches and redness come back. I don t use any makeup except lipstick and a little powder but that s all. Can you suggest anything?

Hello
Thanks for the query.
Dry skin can be physiological as well as pathological.
1. In winters skin loses moisture and air is very is dry, this causes dryness of skin.
2. Excessive use of soaps also causes dryness.

Use the following measures to counter dry skin.
1. Avoid using soaps.
2. Use a face wash to wash your face instead of soap.
3. Apply good amount of moisturizer immediately after bath.
4. Coconut oil is a good substitute to moisturisers.

In addition to above take plenty of fluids and take fruits rich in Vitamin A and E.
Avoid contact with detergents.
You can use hand gloves when washing or doing other household work.
Wear full clothes to avoid loss of moisture from skin.

Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you
