What Do Rashes Between The Armpit And Elbow Indicate?

my sister is an chronic drinker. she recently woke up with little bb size bruises on the underside of her arm between the arm pit and elbow....she said it was from a bite but I have never seen anything like it in my life. My mother died from drinking at 55 years old. What might the bruises mean?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The bruises may indicate that there are issues with the liver.

The liver is the area of the body that plays a big role in the formation of substances needed to prevent or reduce bleeding.
If the liver is not working well then bleeding can occur sometimes in response to very minor injury or trauma

Liver disease is a very common complication of alcohol abuse. She should consider having liver function tests done.

I hope this helps
