Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Do Abdominal Bloating And Blood In Stool Indicate?
I am 59 year old female and have had a very bloated upper belly for a few months. I gained 10 pounds over a course of that time for no apparent reason. I am on Armour for my hypo thyroid. I have always had constipation problems for 20 plus years but just recently had blood in my stool. I hate going to the doctor s because first it s expensive and 2nd I never get any answers. I feel I get more help on symptom checker on Web MD than my actual doctor. Sheryl
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Blood in stool may be due to hemorrhoid or fissure or fistulas. Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid spicy food and processed foods.
Take high fibre diet and do regular exercise, drink plenty of water and eat green leafy vegetables. Use syrup lactulose. Consult your physician for prescription.
If symptoms do not improve, please consult your doctor who will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
