What Diet Plan To Follow Before Going For Colon Cancer Operation ?
Hello, my name is Hameeda Khan. I am 73. My Doctor diagnosed me with Bowel cancer on 31/3/11.I have a question about Bowel Cancer. I will have an operation in two weeks. What should I eat and not eat? Am I allowed to eat solid foods? If my operation is successful, how long will it be till I get better? If not, what will happen?

Eat and drink only a clear-liquid diet for 24 hours before the surgery. these include water,fruit juice. avoid dairy products.laxative medication and bowel prep solution will cause excess or loose bowel movements as the colon is cleansed. Do not take higher doses of the prescribed medication and cleanser or use additional bowel cleansing systems or enemas. Drink plenty of water and clear fluids to avoid dehydration.
recovery period after colon surgery varies. It usually involves a stay in the hospital from 7 - 10 days in uncomplicated cases.
