What Could The Finding "Excess Fluid Found" During Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Suggest?

My doctor just sent me to have a upper GI endoscopy test done. Biopsies came back negative, but doctor told me there was excess fluid found. Told me to keep taking the zolfran that was prescribed from nausea & vomiting & if I was still feeling the same at the follow-up appointment, she was considering prescribing me Elavil. What exactly does it mean when excess fluid was found & why would Elavil be prescribed, if I recall correctly, I thought that Elavil was an anti-depressant?

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these disturbing findings. Excess fluid may simple suggest that the stomach is not contracting at well to push the content down into the small intestines. This can be observed in patients with diabetes who have developed diabetic neuropathy. Elavil helps in clients with this condition. Elavil besides being and antidepressant is also used for diabetic neuropath.

I hope this addresses your query fully. Thank you so much for using our services and do feel free to ask for more clarification or information if need be. I wish you well.
