HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Reflux is a common reason for a chronic/persistent cough but if you are consistently using the medication and have made diet changes for reflux, then your doctor may need to consider other possibilities.

If the symptoms of reflux (except the cough) , are very bad then infection with H pylori would need to be ruled out. A blood test can check for this bacteria.

If this not the case, then other causes of chronic cough should be considered, some persons have more than one cause.
The other causes would be: (1) post nasal drip (the most common cause)
Some persons are not aware of the drip itself but only have the cough

(2)asthma

(3)non asthmatic eosinophilic bronchiits

Your doctor can determine if one of these is involved with your cough

I hope this helps
