What Could Painful Muscle Spasm In Leg Followed By Swollen Feet And Ankles Suggest?

I woke up w/both my feet and ankles very swollen, during the night I had a muscle spasm that brought tears t my eyes and my husband had to lift my leg up very gentile to place it on the bed the pain was unbelievable..I use to have my ankle s swollen yrs ago but nothing like this,,,it s scaring me...what should I do?
