What Could Lump On Bottom Lip Oozing Pus And Liquid Be?
I ve got a lump on the edge of my bottom lip. It initially started as a small red bump but over the last week has swollen. It feels like it is filled with fluid and a small amount of pus came out. If I apply a little bit of pressure I can see there are about 3 whitish areas under the surface but there is no visible head like a spot or anything. My lip is also slightly discouloured (like a bruise) around the edge of the lump. any ideas what it may be and appropriate treatments. I d like to be able to bounce some ideas off my doctor if I have to go see them about it...
based from your description, it could be folliculitis. this usually occurs after shaving, when hair is accidentally pulled out and inflammation and infection occurs, or when there's an irritation or an inflammatory reaction from chemicals. inflammation from uninfected follicles will subside in a few days time on its own. if the lesion, gets infected, a cyst or an abscess formation might ensue. if symptoms persist, a consult with your doctor is best for clinical evaluation. management (medical and/or surgical) will be directed accordingly.
hope this helps.
good day!!
