What Could Delay In Periods With Depression Post Pregnancy Suggest?
I have lost all sex drive. Since having a second child I only have a period every second month. What's up with that? Also, I'm suffering from what seems to be sever depression, I break out crying over the littlest things and have frequent thoughts of suicide. I also don't sleep very well. Please advise.
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. It is common in some females to develop some irregular menstruation after childbirth and this gets stabilised after some months. Some females develop mood symptoms like lability of mood, depressed mood, lack of interest in anything, crying spells etc symptoms. These symptoms usually reduce in about 4 weeks but if they persist beyond that then need proper evaluation by a psychiatrist. In postpartum depression medicines like SSRIs or SNRIs can prove useful. Medicines like Fluoxetine, Sertraline, Escitalopram can be used. Sertraline in low does would be safe medicine even if you are breastfeeding. Consult a psychiatrist for prescription of this drug.
Your symptoms will improve with medicines and there is no need to worry. Try to keep yourself relaxed.
Thanks, hope this helps you. Take care
