What Could Cause Vomiting, Fever, Swollen Tonsils, Wet Cough And Red Eyes In A Toddler?

My daughter is 3 years old and started throwing up on Friday, ran 102 fever Friday night. Tonsils very swollen and eyes very red. The fever has stayed down and no more vomitting, but her tonsils are still very swollen, red and white. Eyes are still red and has a wet cough. Seen a doctor on Sunday and she said that she may have an adenoid virus, but if she was still feeling sick Tuesday, they wanted to run some test for something rare that shows the same symptons... What could they be testing for?
