What Could Cause Sudden Pain And Tenderness In Scalp, Droopy Eye With History Of Having Cluster Headache?

my husband had a bad headache about a week ago that woke him in the night. It went away after about 1 hour. He suffers from cluster headaches but this one was on the other side, and very atypical from his usual headaches. The next day we noticed his eyelid was droopy. The clinic treated him for an eye infection but that did nothing to change it. He is also experiencing some pain and tenderness on his scalp and forehead the same side as the droopy eye. He describes it as if feeling like his scalp is sunburned, which it is not... there is no visible issues on his forehead and scalp.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello
It seems from the history that your husband is having sudden onset of pain and tenderness in scalp associated with droopy eye.
These symptoms indicate painful ophthalmoplegia and need to rule out infections of the central nervous system or space occupying lesions of brain and vascular lesions.
Hence I advice you to consult neurologist or physician doctor for further evaluation and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
