What Could Cause Chest Pain, Weakness In Legs And Arms, Lightheadedness With No Help From Prilosec?

Hi- I have been having chest pains, with weakness in my legs and sometimes my arms, my heart pounds and I am lightheaded. I call them episodes because they come and go. I have had these episodes for a month now. . I have had all kinds of heart tests and know it is not my heart- They told me I have a ulcer and put me on Prilosec- I took it for two weeks - the first week was horrible- second week better- in fact I didn't have an episode for 3 days- then I went off Prilosec and I am having a very bad episode right now with all the symptoms above plus pains in my right shoulder and lots of burping..

Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

With your history, if I were your doctor, I would advise you for an ultrasound abdomen to rule out cholelithiasis which can give rise to such pains in abdomen mimicking cardiac pain and ulcer pain, apart from causing pain in the right shoulder. Also I would advise you for a liver function tests, serum lipase and amylase apart from other routine blood test. Further management would depend on the investigation reports, and if all of the above are normal, I would consider referring you to a gastro enterologist for an upper abdominal endoscopy to rule out any gastric poathology.
