What Could Cause Breath Shortness?

Hello I just yesterday had a Lithotripsy procedure done on my right side to help remove kidney stones. I had General Anastasia done and am experiencing a little shortness in breath and it hurts some if I take a real big deep breath. And kinda feels like I have a cold is this normal.

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, this is normal to have mild degree of breathing difficulty after general anaesthesia.
General anaesthesia actually cause passive atelectesis (partial collapse) of lower lobes.
So you need to do chest physiotherapy and deep breathing exercises.
This will expand your lungs and atelectesis will be cleared.
If you still feel similar breathing difficulty after 2-3 days of chest physiotherapy than consult pulmonologist to rule out bronchitis.
You may need inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
