What Could Be The Reason For Having Brown Discharge?
I am almost 41 years old I usually have my period pretty regular sometimes a few days earlier or latter but around 26 days and usually lasts 6-7 days. this time I had my period on December 31 with alot of dark brown discharge but also red in between for 2 days then it stopped completley for almost 2 days then days then alot of brown discharge for one day then gone. Then a day latter for the next 3 days including today I have clear stretchy discharge. i still feel like i'm gonna get it but nothing. I have no pain just alittle discomfort. what could this be

After reaching 40 years some amount of menstrual irregularities can be seen in some women due to hormonal fluctuation. Brown colored discharge usually indicates collected blood mixed with vaginal mucous discharge which can be seen before and after menstruation. Clear stretchy discharge usually occur due to the influence of estrogen hormone, that can be considered normal in first half of menstrual cycle.
So, according to your history you may not need any active intervention now and you can wait and watch next few cycles. If the irregularity in menstrual flow or cycle pattern increases, better to consult your gynecologist once, get examined and go for ultrasound. This can help in finding out the possible cause of the problem and treatment can be taken accordingly.
