What Could Be The Raised Bump On The Head Covered With White Scales?

Hi...I just cut my sons hair and found a raised bump on his head that is about the size of a pencil top eraser. It wasn t there last time I cut his hair, which was about 6 weeks ago. It looks like a really large raised mole...kinda redish, but the interested thing is that it s covered in these white scaley things....is it a wart & could I use that compound stuff on it that you buy over the counter? Thanks so much! :)

Such red colored lesion covered with scales may be due to number of possibilities like fungal infection, warts, nevus and many more.
I will advice you to upload a pic of the lesion or consut some good dermatologist in person so that the lesion can be actually visualized and correct diagnosis can be made.
