What Could Be The Prognosis For Stress Test In A Hypertensive Patient?

My doctor has sent me for a stress test, I do have high blood pressure, diabetes, When I take my pressure at home I am usually below 130/80, at night could be 115/70 or lower, in the afternoon when I get home usually 140/90 until I rest then down to about 135/85 or a bit lower until night time. I exercise 5 times per week doing 25 minutes on the walket at the gym. I experience no hard breathing at all. What could I expect from the stress test? I do have whitecoat syndrome, don t know why.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The stress test is to look at the function of the heart under physically stressful conditions eg conditions where it has to work harder.

The test would see if there are areas of the heart that do not appear to get enough blood during this time.
This is called ischemia.

During the test , you would be wearing heart leads so that they can monitor your response.

I hope this helps
