What Could Be Done For Sticky Ear Discharge With History Of Mastoidectomy?

II am an 88 year old woman who had a mastoidectomy when I was nine years old in 1934. I have constant fullness in my ear and have a discharge of sticky fluid the texture of the white of an egg. I have had this problem for about thirty years and have seen quite a few ENT doctors. I have informed them about having tthe mestoidectomy. they have done CAT scans ans MRIs. They show nothing, but I have the feeling that the problem is connected since I have a great deal of pressure iin the area where the hollow is where the bone was removed. Can you tell me what I can do or who I might see since all the doctors have pretty much said that I just have to live with it, but it is really affecting my life.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding discharge from ear that had been operated in your childhood.

Sir your clinical history and wordings of your doctor and investigations are most probably indicating that you are having cavity problem. This is very common in open cavity operation and if your investigations are o.k. means it is not a recurrence.

I think it will be better to take conservative treatment from time to time in the form of antibiotic ear drop. But if you are much worried than you may consult your ENT doctor he will examine you and if possible than your cavity may be filled by Temporalis muscle .

Regards.

HI
Thank you mam! for asking to HCM
I really understand your problem and nothing to worry about this this will come around soon, this is a chronic condition and the most likely cause could be tympanic perforation, and the white discharge could be the mucus secretion because of hole in ear drum, I would advise you to take the "Chlorpheniramine maleate" three time in day and take the steam inhalation too, you will be benefited surely, I would feel great to answer your further query, take care and have great day
