What Could Be A Cause For Swelling Of The Eye Lids?

What could be a cause swelling of eye lids? Not eyes. My lids top and bottom on left and right sides are swelling. The pressure push the hair follicles for my eye lashes out and my lashes be grow in front of my eyes. When the swelling does go away, the eye lid skin stretched and the pressure released, there is an odor that comes with it. About every 5-10 minutes they continue with the same cycle lasting for 1 day up to 4 days, and my vision is affected.M y eyes are hurting and burning today. I can feel my lashes growing. What is this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Swelling in the eye-lids can be an immune response to infection, allergy or injury. They can also be due to water retention & lack of sleep.

Get physically examined by an Optician/Eye specialist to detect swelling & inflammation of the meibomian glands or stye.

You need to go through investigations to rule out ocular herpes. get your eye checked in case you need a lens.

In the meantime, stay well hydrated & take adequate sleep.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
